iBurst Vodacom 3G HSDPA FAQ
What is 3G and HSDPA?
3G is Third Generation mobile technology, which allows you to transfer both voice data (a telephone call) and non-voice data
(such as downloading information, exchanging email, and instant messaging) at the same time. For example: you can surf the
Internet at high data speeds, make video calls and watch Mobile TV all at once.
HSDPA stands for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access. It uses 3G mobile technology to give you faster broadband data transfer
speeds on both the uplink and downlink.
What do I need to get started?
A desktop or laptop computer. (Also supports Macs)
How do I install this on my computer?
Plug and Play installation means that the device is self installed, all you need to do is plug it into the USB port of your computer.
You will then be asked for a pin number which can be found in your starter pack. If you do experience installation problems please contact our 24-hour support line on 0877 207 200.
What happens when I reach my monthly data limit?
You have 2 options:
- All packages are activated with Pay-Per-use, which means that once you have used your bundle you will automatically be billed per MB thereafter
- To save money you can also buy a Bolt On (Bandwidth Booster), which gives you extra bandwidth for less
Does my unused data carry over to the next month?
On your monthly allocated data bundles - no. HSDPA bandwidth boosters expire 30 days from date of purchase
What if I am not covered by the 3G HSDPA network?
When 3G HSDPA is not available you will be able to connect via Vodacom's 3G, EDGE or GPRS networks
